Student Leadership

St Francis of Assisi offers many opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills in a supportive and safe environment. These include our Peer Mediators program, Student Leaders and Mini Vinnies.

See below for more information on these programs.

Peer Mediators contribute to a positive, caring, safe and friendly school environment. Our Year 6 Peer Mediators spend 6 weeks training to assist yard duty teachers in resolving conflict and supporting peers in maintaining positive friendships.

There are many leadership positions available throughout all year levels for students and Senior Leaders roles for Year 6 students.

Each class has two wellbeing leaders who lead lunchtime clubs in the Wellbeing Room, conduct class meetings and bring student voice to meetings with school staff.

Senior leaders’ roles include:

  • Music Leaders
  • Environmental Leaders
  • Social Justice Leaders
  • Wellbeing Leaders
  • House Captains

Mini Vinnie’s empowers students to become advocates within their school and local community by putting their values into action.  They meet regularly to learn about social justice issues and develop their leadership skills. At St Francis of Assisi, Mini Vinnie’s organise events such as the Winter Woollies Day and coordinating clothing donations, Christmas hampers and canned food drives for the local St Vincent de Paul Society. Students have the opportunity to be involved in Mini Vinnie’s from year 4.
