From the Principal

The Annual General Meeting of the School Board will be held on Tuesday 17th of March at 7pm. This is a great opportunity to hear about the successes of the 2019 year and look forward to 2020 plans for St Francis. All families are welcome to attend the AGM which will commence at 7pm. It is during this meeting that we announce new Board members for the coming year. The nomination form for anyone interested in supporting the school through participation on this group will be found via the Skoolbag app and will be sent home this week.

The School Board is an advisory committee that provides direction and input for the school in a variety of matters, including financial, community and resource operations. I’m sure that many of you would have the knowledge and expertise to offer your support to the Board. It really is a matter of being available for 2 evening meetings per term and the occasional extra meeting as needed. I ask you to please consider this opportunity to serve the school community in this way.

Last year I attended my first Children’s University Graduation ceremony at the University of Adelaide. It was so cool to see our children in graduation robes receiving an award from the Dean of the University for their work, study and play in after-hours activities. Children’s University is all about voluntary activities done after school hours by school students. As example, if your child does dance lessons, these hours would count toward their graduation goal. Last year we had 5 students graduate from SFOA. I’d love to see 20 this year! Please find attached to this newsletter information on how to enrol. This is an exciting and fun way for the children to expand their learning in a fun way.

Janine Gallomarino has been a long serving member of staff here at St Francis and indeed in Catholic Education for over 30 years. We offer our prayers and most sincere condolences to the family on Janine’s passing last week. Many of our long standing families would have known Janine and fondly remember her warm smile, generous spirit and positive attitude always evident in her front office role since 2004 here at St Francis. Janine had been unwell for an extended period of time and has now gone to God’s tender loving care. We wish her husband Raff and all the family every blessing at this time as they mourn the loss of their loved one. We will always share the wonderful memories of her life with her family and friends and work colleagues.  Janine has been a most valued member of our St Francis family and will always remain in our hearts.
