How can I help the Parents and Friends Committee?

If you are you interested in joining/assisting the Parents and Friends at St Francis, the following FAQs may help.

Remember that ALL parents are part of Parents and Friends Group, so you are all welcome to attend any meeting at any time.

You don’t need to make a big commitment – you may only want to come along to listen, or you may have a particular issue you would like discussed, or you may enjoy being involved in one of the events' subcommittees or helping on the day.

For those who do like to get really involved, each year the following positions are open:

  • Chairperson: Chairs all meetings and works closely with all committee positions and School Staff to help coordinate events
  • Deputy Chairperson: Support to the chairperson as required
  • Treasurer: Involves getting the financial statements from the School Bursar and keeping the Committee informed on how much we can put back into the children’s/school facilities.
  • Secretary: Involved in sending out the Agenda and taking minutes at the meeting
  • Committee Member: Contributing an idea, or helping with one or two or all fundraisers, or just listening if that’s what makes you comfortable!

Positions are decided at our first meeting for each year and details of any open positions will be announced School Newsletter.

Sure. Then you can join our subcommittee for any events we hold across the year. Whenever we have an event or a fundraiser, we always form a small “sub-committee”, so you only need to get involved in what you will enjoy and what you have time for.

What happens to our Levy and Fundraising money?

There is a certain sense of accomplishment, when we are able to see what is achieved by our work. With the help of our Levy and Fundraising in the past we:

  • donated money to the Parish for audio-visual equipment in the Hall, that is often used by our children
  • donated money to the sports room for extra balls and other sports equipment
  • paid for the much needed extra playground equipment for the Receptions and Year 1s
  • cricket nets on the oval
  • purchased all the seating for the new MPF
  • will help the school by making donations for extra equipment that just cannot fit into the school budget.  This may be additional electronic whiteboards, or additional sports or music equipment, or additional audio-visual equipment – anything that will benefit our children.

No. We pride ourselves on organizing several community events during the year; many of these events do not raise any or little money toward fundraising and are purely held to get our families together for some fun!

Some of the type of events we may hold during the year include:

  • Father & Mother’s Day Stalls;
  • School Disco;
  • Quiz Night;
  • Pasta Night;
  • Father's Night;
  • Indulgence Night;
  • Sport's Day BBQ;
  • Welcome Morning Teas;
  • Grandparents Days;
  • and other yet to be held future events which all provide a lot of enjoyment for all involved.

Just come along to our next meeting – dates are advertised every fortnight in the Newsletter and on the school calendar.
