From the Principal

Welcome to the second week of the school year. Our students from Reception and Yr 1/2 have settled in very well and are learning the routines and structures for their new classrooms. Our Year 3-6 students are still at home this week undertaking remote learning. The teachers are very pleased with the focus and enthusiasm of all students and there has already been a lot of work completed. We are so much looking forward to all our children being with us next week. From Monday 14th February we hope that it will be ‘business as usual’ for all in the St Francis community from this date onward.

Reminders

There are a few ongoing reminders that I ask you to read and take note of listed below. These are for the safety and wellbeing of every member of our school/parish community. If we all follow the rules our school will be a much safer place for all.

  • Please minimise the time you spend on site at school to essential business only
  • Masks must be always worn on the school property
  • If you are on-site, you must check in via a QR code
  • Please do not leave your vehicle unattended at any time in the Kiss N Drop area
  • Please use only designated parks in the Church carpark
  • No double ranking or parking in the yellow zone area in the Church carpark

Uniform Update

Our new Sports uniform is already being proudly worn by many of our students. It is a welcome improvement in comfort and style for the children, plus it looks great! I understand that some children who have not yet transferred to the new uniform may be putting pressure on at home for you to purchase this. Please remember there is up to a two-year transition to the new uniform. We understand that children will be coming to school in either/or for the next period of time, that’s fine. We are only asking families to upgrade to the new uniform when their next purchase needs to be made. The winter uniform hopefully is going to be ready for Term 2, but we will update you on this closer to the time. One item that hasn’t changed though is the sports shoes which must be white, predominantly white or plain blue. Black sports shoes (and any other colour) are not part of the school uniform and should not be worn. Your cooperation with this is appreciated.

Events Outside of School

The logistics for taking a group of students outside of the school requires a great deal of planning and organisation. We absolutely value these experiences and know our children do too. The process of replacing paper consent forms with either QKR or SkoolBag electronic permissions makes the consent and information distribution and collection process so much easier. Last year, our School Board approved the proposal to streamline this process. The policy from Catholic Education requires schools to receive written permission for children to attend an excursion ONE WEEK earlier than the event.

Beginning this term we will be reinforcing this policy and adhering to the due date. The QKR portal will not be re-opened after closing date. SkoolBag or other permissions cannot be accepted after the due date. Please take note of this as we will be adhering strictly to this policy for all outside of school events this year. Your cooperation is needed to ensure your child does not miss out on a wonderful learning experience. Please contact the office if you need assistance to install either the SkoolBag or QKR app on your phone. You will need access to both at different times during the year. Your cooperation with this process is appreciated.

We can’t wait for next week! See you all then.
