Welcome to Week 3. It has been a very unusual start to the school year weatherwise. Seems like we are experiencing not just hot weather, but often all 4 seasons rolled into one day! It makes it very confusing for knowing what to wear. Apart from the weather though it has been a smooth start to the new school year. The children really seem so glad to be here and there has been a really positive vibe around the school as the children are getting to know their new teachers and class groups.
It was good to see a number of families take the opportunity to attend the Parent Information Evening last Monday and hear first-hand about the expectations and class routines for the year. Our teaching team across all year levels will be working very collaboratively in 2021 with shared planning, regular meetings and quality professional learning to support their work in literacy, numeracy and student well-being. We are looking forward to a very successful year of learning and friendships for all our students.
As you know we farewelled Fr John at the end of last year and we are looking forward to meeting our new priest – Fr Luan Le, who has joined the parish team with Fr Eldridge. We were going to be celebrating our Opening Mass for students only on Wednesday but unfortunately Mass has had to be cancelled. Please look for notification via Skoolbag and SeeSaw about Ash Wednesday Mass and liturgies next week. We look forward to being able to invite some family members to upcoming Church-based celebrations sometime in the near future and of course, we are all looking forward a day when no restrictions continue to be in place.
Speaking of COVID – we have been issued a QR code by the Catholic Education Office for use in our school. If you are at school for any length of time apart from morning drop-off or afternoon pick-up you are required to scan the QR code for us to have an active record of all people on our site in the unlikely scenario that we did experience COVID issues at our school site. Your support with this is appreciated moving forward.
Last week we sent home advice about roadworks scheduled for Graves St over the course of this week. We were expecting these to commence yesterday but for some reason that didn’t happen. You will need to be prepared for a slower journey to and from school over the course of this week with the expected roadworks likely to commence soon. Please check the information that came home via Skoolbag and SeeSaw and be aware that there is no access to the church carpark over the course of the week. Your patience and courtesy during the road work will ensure the safety of all.
In closing, if you were at Assembly yesterday you would have noted the brand new sound system and A/V equipment in use. We are so pleased to finally have a permanent A/V system which is of good quality and easy to use! The financial contribution from families via the P & F levy over the last few years and the work of the Parents and Friends group has enabled this to happen. On behalf of our very appreciative staff team I say thank you to all our families.
Have a great week.
