Welcome to Week 7! I think everyone is wondering what else can possibly happen in 2020? Events of this year, and indeed the last week have put all of us into unknown territory yet again. Most amazingly, our staff and our children have shown an extraordinary resilience when faced with these challenges. Yesterday, the positive energy in the yard was palpable as children were able to reconnect with their friends, many of whom they thought they would not see for a few weeks to come. Our parent body have been most supportive and willing to ‘go with the flow’ as we moved to and from school in the last week. Your ongoing cooperation and understanding during these times has been greatly appreciated and I thank you all for your patience, positive mindset and the ability to work with us as these challenges are continually placed before us.
As we move into the final weeks of the school year some of our events will need to be reshaped to fit in with COVID guidelines from Catholic Education and SA Health. Notably, while we can still host a range of school events the number of adults present will need to be restricted. As example, this Friday we have our Blessing of The Cribs liturgy, relocated to the MPF so that all classes can be present. We are asking that a maximum of only one adult from each family join us for this liturgy to keep the numbers manageable. Our picnic day which was going to be celebrated at Morialta Conservation Park has now been cancelled and we will be hosting in-house activities with buddy classes after recess. We have booked a Music Show for the whole school for the afternoon. Parents can be at school as per restrictions listed above for the liturgy but will not be able to join us for the rest of the day’s activities.
The End of Year Mass which also celebrates the Year 6 Graduation, will need to be re-shaped in order for it to go ahead. We are in the process of finalising a workable format so we can celebrate in a manner that still has meaning but still remains in keeping with SA Health and Catholic Education guidelines. We will do the best we can to keep these celebrations meaningful for our students and families. Your cooperation and understanding as we move forward in this space will be appreciated.
As we move closer to the Christmas season I ask for your prayers and best wishes for all those in our community who have been affected by COVID -19, either through employment, health or well-being. There are a number of families in our midst doing it tough at the moment and your prayers and active support for our brothers and sisters will be of great comfort to those in need.
Have a good week.
