Welcome to Term 4. I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday break and some quality time together. I was very blessed to be able to travel to the Northern Territory and explore some of our Great Southern Land in areas such as Kakadu, Katherine Gorge and Litchfield just to name a few. It is an amazing country we live in, so vast, so diversified, and filled with such wonderous beauty. I was able to appreciate so much more of the land we live in first-hand and up close. I am feeling both relaxed and re-energised for all Term 4 will bring.
This is always an action-packed term with so many events to keep us all engaged in as we move towards the end of the year. Please find attached to this newsletter a copy of the Term 4 calendar which I ask you to keep at your fingertips so that you don’t miss any upcoming events. This coming Friday we have a whole School Mass to celebrate the Feast of St Francis at 9:30am. Parents are welcome to attend as per COVID guidelines about Church seating. Please arrive early in order to follow any requirements in regard to record of attendance and spaced seating arrangements.
On Thursday 29th October we are hosting Sports Day. It will be a little different this year due to COVID-19 restrictions which are still in place for school events. We are very lucky to still have Sports Day as I do know of some schools who have cancelled for this year and some other schools are still hosting the event but without parents being able to attend.
Sports Day will look a little different for our school this year. We are allowing parents or family members to attend but numbers will be restricted as we have strict COVID guidelines to adhere to. In order to provide opportunity for all families to join in the day we have to ask that every family has a maximum of two family members on site at any one time during the day. This means that if you have more than two family members wanting to attend you will have to do this on a roster or share basis in order for us to ensure we do not breach COVID guidelines about total numbers in attendance. Your cooperation with this request is essential in order for Sports Day to go ahead.
The school will not be providing any extra food items for purchase so there will be no BBQ or special event lunches provided. Please ensure your child has their normal recess and lunch at school for this day. Regular school-based lunches can still be ordered via QKR. A Sports Day program will come home before the day and we look forward to some fine weather and exciting activities for the children to experience.
On another note, we have BookWeek to celebrate as well, in Week 2 on Friday 23rd October with a BookWeek Parade commencing at 9:15am in the MPF. The theme for Bookweek is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’ which conjures up a sea full of costume possibilities. Again, due to COVID restrictions and this being a inside event we can only allow a maximum of one adult member per family to attend due to seating arrangements and required 1.5 metre spacing between seats. More details will be forwarded this week.
We look forward to an action-packed and fun-filled term and we wish all Port Adelaide supporters good luck as they spur their team on to a possible Grand Final appearance.
Have a great week.
